At UTC Plymouth, our aim is to make the examination experience as successful and stress‑free as possible for all candidates and their parents/carers. We want every student to feel prepared, supported and confident when sitting their exams.

Regulations and Guidance
The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) and the exam boards set strict criteria for the conduct of examinations, which UTC Plymouth is required to follow precisely. All candidates must read the JCQ documents carefully, as they contain important information about exam rules and expectations.

Illness and Absence from Examinations
If a student is unable to attend an examination due to illness or emergency, it is vital that parents/carers inform the school immediately. This can be done via the Arbor App, email or phone call. Due to emails sometimes not being picked up straight away or the phone lines being busy, the best way to ensure the school is aware of your child's absence is to let us know via the Arbor App.

Absences for medical reasons must be supported by a medical certificate obtained from your doctor within five days of the illness. Without this, exam authorities may refuse to grant special consideration.

If a delay occurs on the way to an examination, parents/carers should contact the school as soon as possible. Students must still attend and report to reception upon arrival, even if they are late.
