Our Commitment 

UTC Plymouth welcomes all students into our community. We are proud to be an inclusive school where every young person is valued and supported to achieve their potential. While we encourage applications from students of all backgrounds, we particularly attract those with a strong interest in the STEAM curriculum, Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics. 

Understanding the STEAM Curriculum 

The STEAM curriculum is academically rigorous and largely classroom‑based, especially in the earlier years. Some students may find this different from what they expect, as “STEAM” does not mean purely hands‑on or workshop learning. 

Practical opportunities do increase as students progress through the school, with projects, employer engagement and applied learning becoming more frequent. However, these experiences are always underpinned by strong academic foundations in the classroom. Success in STEAM subjects requires commitment to theory, problem‑solving and structured study, alongside the practical elements. 

Adaptive Provision at UTC Plymouth 

Our staff receive ongoing professional development to ensure classrooms and learning spaces are accessible to all. 

We provide additional support through specialist teams such as Communication and Interaction Teams and Educational Psychologists designed to support us with a wide range of Special Educational needs:
