At UTC Plymouth, our guiding tagline is “Think Like an Engineer.” But this doesn’t mean we expect every student to become an engineer. We know our students are diverse in their talents, passions and ambitions with some going on to careers in science, technology, the arts, business or beyond. What unites them is the mindset we help them develop. 

To think like an engineer is to approach the world with curiosity, resilience and creativity. It’s about seeing challenges as opportunities, asking the right questions and working collaboratively to find solutions. These are skills and attitudes that prepare our students for success in whatever future they choose.

Our location is one of our greatest assets. UTC Plymouth is based in the hub of activity in Plymouth, right next door to Babcock International and just a short walk from Princess Yachts. Being situated in the heart of the city’s industrial and maritime sector means our students are surrounded by innovation and opportunity every day. 

We work closely with a wide range of industry partners to design a curriculum that is meaningful, relevant and aligned with industry standards. These partnerships bring learning to life, by giving students opportunities to engage with professionals, take part in workshops and have a clear understanding of expectations in the workplace.
