By engaging with homework and revision, students build confidence, resilience and the ability to take ownership of their learning journey.

    Independent Learning & Revision 

    Independent learning is about taking responsibility for your own progress. At UTC Plymouth, we encourage students to: 

    Make an infographic of the below 

    • Use knowledge organisers to review key topics. 

    • Keep pupil planners updated with homework, deadlines and goals. 

    • Dedicate time to revision and extra practice at home. 

    • Explore additional resources to stretch their learning beyond the curriculum. 

    This time is invaluable for building strong study habits and preparing for future success. 

    Resources by Year Group 

    • Key Stage 3: Focus on whol school literacy (Bedrock), reading (Sparx Reader), Science (Sparx Science) and numeracy (Sparx Maths). 

    • Key Stage 4: Revisit taught knowledge from the Core subjects through Sparx Maths and Science, and through Seneca. Also carry out intensive exam preparation, practice papers, and targeted revision sessions. 

    • Post‑16: Independent research, extended projects, and preparation for higher education or apprenticeships.
